BOREALIS ON THE LAKE is bringing artivist Dan Acher’s Northern Lights to Lake Daylesford this winter.
The mesmerising installation transports you to a place far away, where time slows down as your eyes look up.
Through colour, movement, density of light beams and changing weather, unique auroras are projected over the lake. The perfect blend of technology and art. Set to a tranquil soundtrack, you become truly immersed in the wonder and magic of BOREALIS.
Created by Switzerland-based artivist Dan Acher the intent with his work is to create spaces where strangers come together and connect beyond their differences – creating a sense of belonging and community. Cities are his playgrounds, reaching thousands of people. The installation is enjoyable by people of all ages.

WHAT TO BRING
BOREALIS on the Lake is an outdoor night-time event, in the middle of winter, so we recommend you dress for the weather. Warm winter clothing is essential! We recommend beanies, gloves and scarves, and even a blanket if you want to rug up!
Weatherproof cushions and neat foldable seats are also a good option to bring if you want to sit and stay for a while.
An exciting selection of food and beverage offerings will be available to purchase at the event. BYO alcohol is strictly prohibited, however our vendors on site are licensed and will be selling an assortment of alcoholic beverages.

The entry point to BOREALIS is adjacent to the Boathouse Daylesford.
Please be advised that the event area, around the southwest corner of the lake, is closed to other access points during operational hours.
Shuttle Service:
A (ticketed) shuttle service operates between Daylesford Town Hall and Lake Daylesford Carpark, on Fridays and Saturdays only.
The first shuttle leaves the Town Hall at 5:45pm and the last shuttle leaves Lake Daylesford at 10pm. Shuttle service runs continuously all evening until the end of the event.

What is BOREALIS on the Lake?
BOREALIS on the Lake is an immersive light and sound installation over Lake Daylesford using theatrical hazers and laser beams, to create an effect that replicates the natural phenomenon of the Aurora Borealis. A gentle soundtrack is played alongside the visual effect to create a peaceful and magical experience.
What time should I arrive?
We advise you arrive at least 5 to 10 minutes in advance of your session time.
How long does BOREALIS run?
Borealis is a continuous performance and you can stay for as long as you like.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes. It suitable for all ages but please note, the event takes place near water at night, so for safety purposes young children must be supervised at all times.
Can I take photos or videos?
Yes! Borealis looks magnificent in video and photographs and we encourage you to get your cameras and phones out to capture the visual magic of this effect. Can I buy tickets onsite?
Tickets will be available to purchase onsite at the entrance however, to ensure you don’t miss out on your preferred session time we recommend purchasing your tickets in advance by visiting our website www.borealisau.com
Is the experience accessible?
BOREALIS is a visual and auditory sensory experience that can be enjoyed by most people. There is accessible parking close to the event, accessible toilets, and step-free access for wheelchairs and prams. There are no dedicated nappy changing facilities in the event site but there are some available in the separate public toilets near the entrance.
Those accompanying a person with a disability may enter free of charge if they present their Companion Card to Front of House staff at the time of entrance. If you have any special requirements you would like to discuss in advance please contact borealis@gluttony.net.au
Is BOREALIS on the Lake safe for people with epilepsy?
The lighting effect is not designed to ‘flash’ but it does flicker. Patrons with concerns are advised to reference this short video clip of the effect to help determine if it is suitable for them.
Can I bring my dog?
Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome to attend with their owners. We just ask that you ensure you clean up after them while at the event.
